Professor Thyme
Set: Tables, chairs and simple props (oh, and a time machine!).

Synopsis: When the dastardly Count Downe uses Professor Thyme's time machine to travel into the past and change history, it's up to the professor and his gang to follow
him and put things right before the damage is done ...

Running Time: Around 60 minutes (Caution! This is very dependent on your production.)

Notes: 'Writing a play for a cast of over 30 children was certainly a challenge, particularly when the plot revolves around the potentially confusing idea of Time Travel. But what
fun! There's plenty of scope here to let those children who shine in the spotlight have their moment of glory, with plenty of parts for those less comfortable on stage, too.'

Two versions are available, one with songs by David Fisher, one without.

Published: 2010
First Produced: Sydenham High Junior School, London, 2010
Latest Production: Saugerties Central School District, New York, 2012.

SAMPLE SCENE

Sir Robert: Mr Shakespeare? I’m such a big fan of yours. I’ve got all your plays. Macbeth is my favourite. Could you do a bit for me?

Shakespeare: (Struggling to pick up his papers) Well, I’m a bit busy at the moment.

Sir Robert: I love the bit about the digger.

Shakespeare: Pardon?

Sir Robert: You know, ‘Is this a digger I see before me?’

Shakespeare: It’s dagger. ‘Is this a dagger I see before me?’

Count Downe: (Picking up the manuscript) So, what do we have here?

Shakespeare: My latest. It’s called ‘Hamlet’.

Drongo: Who wants to read a play about an omelette?

Count Downe: (To Shakespeare) Ignore my friend, he’s left his brain at home. So, you’re on your way to the Palace are you?

Shakespeare: How do you know that?

Count Downe: Just a guess.

Shakespeare: Without the royal seal of approval my play will never be performed.
